About

ISKCON’s New Talavana farm has been protecting cows since 1974. They are allowed to live a full natural life span with many living into their 20’s. Over the years New Talavana has taken in abandoned cows, rescued beef cows and dozens of other cows from overcrowded ISKCON farms. Our cow protection program is run almost entirely by unpaid New Talavana Gurukulis and young volunteers. We grow and bale all the hay we need to feed the cows through the winter. Our milk cows are always hand milked and the milk is used to make a variety of wonderful milk preparations for our deities Sri Sri Radha Radha Kanta and the devotees. These days we keep a herd of around 50 cows. We always have several ongoing projects we could use help with such as barn/equipment repairs, cow medical bills, fence and pasture maintenance. This year we have started collecting funds for building a new milking barn. The one we are currently using is too small, unaccommodating to guests and 47 years old. Taking care of the cows is pleasing to Lord Krsna and we work hard to ensure that they always have a peaceful carefree life
